Description
The Signal Priority System uses the Spot Devices
Acuity™ tracking and control application to provide
cost-effective, simple management of
schedule-sensitive vehicles. Acuity is part of the Spot Devices System Infrastructure
Management Applications (SIMA) suite, a set of
secure Web-based tools for remote, enterprise-wide
supervision of all Spot Devices systems.
Operation
The Signal Priority System monitors GPS-based
vehicle location via Virtual Private Network (VPN)
communications between a vehicle-mounted
modem and the SIMA server complex. SIMA then
uses the same VPN to command a local
SC320-series Spot Devices controller to notify a
co-located, industry-standard traffic signal controller
that a vehicle has passed a configurable virtual fence (geofence).
Applications
- Reduce transit time for public transportation
- Vehicle location management
- Grade crossing management
|
Highlights
- Mission-critical, dedicated VPN communications
managed by 24/7, multi-location, fully
redundant Network Operations Centers
- Real-time vehicle location monitoring via
secure Web site from virtually any browser-equipped
device
- Detection of vehicle has no proximity or line-of-sight
limitations
- Notifications to traffic signal controller of
geofence passage at configurable distance(s)
before and after intersection
- Field hardware is limited to SC320-series Spot
Devices controllers and modems, minimizing
system management and maintenance costs
- Compatible with industry-standard cabinets and
traffic signal controllers
- Driver management and homeland security
application provides proactive e-mail alert if
vehicle deviates from route
