Description

Lane Delineation Systems employ In-Road Warning Lights (IRWLs) to dynamically indicate the boundaries of traffic lanes in applications such as lane reversal, multiple turn lanes, HOV commuter lanes and dangerous curve warnings.

Lane Delineation Systems are activated and monitored by the Spot Devices System Infrastructure Management Applications (SIMA) suite, a set of secure Web-based tools for remote, enterprise-wide supervision of all Spot Devices systems.

Operation

In lane-reversal applications, the IRWLs activate on a calendar schedule to show the correct direction of travel at any given time. In multiple turn lane applications, IRWLs are synchronized with turn signals, making lanes easier to distinguish. HOV commuter lanes typically activate on a calendar schedule, while dangerous curve warnings are on all or most of the time.
